Fox Tech High School – Health Magnet & H-TECH
At Fox Tech, the oldest High School in San Antonio, students who are interested in pursuing careers in health and law professions receive focused instruction. Within the two magnet programs, Fox Tech offers specific pathways to best prepare your child for various careers within the medical and legal field.
Within the Health Magnet, Fox Tech offers the Health Pathways in Technology Early College High School, better known as H-TECH. H-TECH offers two unique early college pathways, an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) and an Associate of Science (AS).
Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Designed as a Six-Year Program for students who are determined to become a Registered Nurse, the program is the first of its kind in the state of Texas. Students take courses at San Antonio College School of Nursing within the 5th and 6th Years of the program. Students will have the opportunity to earn one of the following medical certifications: Phlebotomy Technician, Patient Care Technician, Electrocardiogram Technician, or Pharmacy Care Technician. Upon successful completion, students will be ready for the NCLEX exam, the nationally recognized exam they must pass to become a Registered Nurse. Students will take their courses with San Antonio College and utilize the state of the art resources available at Fox Tech and the college campus.
Associate of Science (AS) This pathway is designed to prepare students for a variety of careers within the medical field. Students who are interested in becoming a doctor, veterinarian, dentist, or other medical jobs are best suited for this program. The AS program is designed to be completed within four years, but does give students an opportunity to complete in years five and six. Students will have the opportunity to earn one of the following medical certifications: Phlebotomy Technician, Patient Care Technician, Electrocardiogram Technician, or Pharmacy Care Technician Students will take their courses with San Antonio College and utilize the state of the art resources available at Fox Tech and the college campus.

El Asociado en Ciencias Aplicadas (AAS) Diseñado como un programa de seis años para estudiantes que están decididos a convertirse en enfermeros registrados. el programa es el primero de su tipo en el estado de Texas. Los estudiantes toman cursos en la Escuela de Enfermería de San Antonio College dentro de los años 5 y 6 del programa. - 2012 National Blue Ribbon School offering career opportunities in medicine, nursing, physician’s assistant, pharmacy, forensics, or microbiology.
- Instruction is delivered through traditional lectures, interactive classrooms, courtroom simulations, field observations, research and analysis projects. Seniors can participate in internships in a chosen area of interest.
- Clinical Rotations and Job-Shadowing Opportunities within the Medical Field.
- Guest Speakers and simulations led by experts in the medical industry.
- Dual-credit courses with San Antonio College and the University of Texas at San Antonio, as well as Dual Enrollment with the University of Texas at Austin’s OnRamps Platform.
