At Poe Middle School, we believe every student can demonstrate mastery of learning at high levels through rigorous and engaging instruction. Poe Middle
School educates all students, and our mission is to prepare each and every student for college and career readiness.

  • STEM = Science, Technology, Engineering, Math
  • STEM curriculum – Prepares students for STEM-related high school coursework and future careers
  • Dual Language pathway​ – Promotes bilingualism, biliteracy, cultural appreciation, and increased student achievement 
  • Social-Emotional Learning – Strengthens social, emotional, and cognitive competencies through self-reflection and personal growth

In 6th grade, students will engage in STEM-integrated studies via core content curricular programming and PBL instruction. Interdisciplinary studies focus on technology, design principles, STEM career pathways & exploration.

In their second and third years, students will engage in college- and career-ready CTE courses. These courses will focus on STEM and on developing 21st-century skills. They will also take STEM-related coursework and have opportunities for STEM high school elective course credit. Advanced math will be available.

En el grado 6, los alumnos se comprometen con estudios integrados con STEM a través de la programación curricular de las materias bases y la instrucción PBL. Los estudios interdisciplinarios se enfocan en la tecnología, los principios de diseño, secuencias de carreras STEM y la exploración.

En el segundo y el tercer año, los alumnos se comprometerán en cursos de CTE que los prepara para la universidad y la carrera. Estos cursos serán enfocados en STEM y en el desarrollo de las habilidades del siglo 21. También tomarán cursos relacionados con STEM y tendrán oportunidades de ganar crédito a nivel de preparatoria para los cursos electivos Las matemáticas avanzadas estarán disponibles.

  • Virtual Sessions: Join by tuning in to our live broadcast on the SAISD Choice Schools & Programs Facebook page. Parents will be able to post questions directly in the comments during the presentations, and we’ll answer in real time! Questions may also be sent ahead of time by direct message through the Facebook page, or by email to
  • In-Person Sessions: No sign-up is needed. These sessions take place at our neighborhood high schools, so parking is free. To make sure seating can remain socially distanced, we advise just 1 parent and 1 child per family attend each event. *Masks are required due to COVID-19 safety guidelines.
