At Washington Irving Dual Language Academy, we believe that all students have the potential to develop into productive, high achieving global citizens. For this reason, we provide students with the most advanced comprehensive dual language experience that supports the development of highly proficient biliterate individuals with cognitive meta-linguistic skills.
The goal of the secondary dual language program is to continue to develop higher levels of academic language proficiency in Spanish and English simultaneously from Pre-K -12th. Students in 6th and 7th grades will take two core classes, an elective in Spanish, and the rest of their classes in English.
Students eligible for the secondary dual language program:
- Students coming from a dual language elementary program
- Students proficient in Spanish and English not necessarily coming from a dual language elementary (Heritage Spanish speakers and ESL students)
